Museum Days are
planned in conjunction with county membership committees to gain new
members and to provide a membership benefit for current members. A Museum
Day is an educational program from the museum, which takes the collection
and staff curators to communities across the state. The program may
be on topics represented in the museum collection, North Carolina history,
or related subjects presented by nationally recognized speakers.
A social usually
accompanies the program (coffee, luncheon, tea, wine and cheese dinner).
The social hours adds to the event and gives participants a chance to
talk informally with museum representatives and with each other. Some
communities have had very successful social events to benefit the Museum
Associates without a program. Members of the Associates in surrounding
counties are often invited to attend, in addition to members in the
host county. If you would like to host a Museum Day in your
area, please contact Betsy
Frazier.
